I had the following question which I am sure that some people may have also experienced.
Hi as I am new to the 5:2 plan have only tried two fast days what I want to know is do you see a difference with your weight. I have put on two kgs in 6 days. Not very happy. Help!!
When you are trying to lose weight, it can be very demoralizing when the opposite happens.
Everyone is different, so I can’t say you will lose x kg in this many days.
But from my experience, there are a couple of things you might want to keep in mind. One thing is that your weight fluctuates from day to day. This is normal. It may depend on many things, such as (if you’re a woman) what time of the month it is, if you have been exercising, what time of the day you weight yourself (it may vary between the morning and evening), water retention, etc, etc.
Another thing is how you have been eating on your non-fasting days. You don’t want to undo the good work you have put in on fasting days by going and eating more than you do normally, because you think you can “make up for it”.
Try to eat in moderation, and eat a well-balanced nutritious diet on your non-fasting days.
The main thing is to hang in there. There is a lot to learn and for some it can be a big lifestyle change that is required to get their health and fitness back on track.
You may have some life-long unsupportive habits that you are working against, so commit to the 5:2 fasting diet for at least a month and see how it goes.
